What platforms do - an explanation for your clients
The UK Platform Group have put together a factsheet to help clients understand what platforms do. They are designed to help you and your clients manage savings and investments for clients’ financial plans.
Platforms administer savings and investments. They provide “custody” for clients’ cash and investments, facilitate the administration of investments, and provide reports, information, and online access to these investments.
Platforms provide “tax wrappers” in which to hold savings and investments - these are accounts such as ISAs or pensions which have their own different rules about tax and access. Platforms manage the trading of investments - the buying and selling of both funds and shares.
The factsheet also shows our charges so your clients can compare them to other platforms.
