Solving the retirement income conundrum events

Join us in October or November at one of the locations listed below

Ensuring clients receive a sustainable income throughout their autumn years can be a challenge, especially given there are a number of unknowns – such as the length of retirement and the rates of return from different investments. What’s more, the tax treatment of retirement assets is constantly evolving as is the regulatory climate. Meanwhile innovation brings new products and strategies into the equation for both new and existing retirement plans.

Keeping on top of this ever-changing landscape is not easy and so these 90-minute retirement seminars will examine all the new developments in this important area. Each session will consider, for example, the following areas:

  • Developing and maintaining a Centralised Retirement Proposition – following the FCA’s retirement income advice thematic review – where the regulator found that not all firms were taking account of the differing needs of their clients in decumulation – many more firms have adopted a CRP. But what is a CRP and how can one help firms deliver consistent and repeatable retirement income advice?
  • A macro-economic update – we are living through a time of heightened volatility due to economic uncertainty, monetary or fiscal policy changes and geopolitical tensions. This part of the session will examine past periods of market volatility and highlight what lessons we can learn for the future. We’ll also discuss investment strategies designed to navigate the complexities of today’s financial landscape.
  • A smarter approach to managing volatility in decumulation – using accumulated savings to create a sustainable lifetime income – while preserving access to capital – is a primary objective for many retiring clients. However, designing a suitable lifetime income strategy can be complicated given the unknowns. In this session, we explore an approach that combines both income security and flexibility for clients while leaving advisers in full control of the plan.
  • The regulatory and taxation backdrop – the FCA’s retirement income advice review and the Consumer Duty potentially mean that many firms may need to review how they conduct retirement income advice. In this segment, we’ll examine all the latest regulatory requirements while also analysing the proposed changes to pensions and inheritance tax.
  • Flexible investment and retirement strategies – the ‘bucket’ method of investing, where an individual’s assets are divided into distinct buckets with each one having a specific purpose, time horizon and asset allocation, is ideally suited for those at and in retirement. Using examples, we’ll examine how this strategy can be utilised within retirement plans and demonstrate how they can provide more control to both clients and advisers.
