Strategic bond sector overtakes mixed asset investments in the FundsNetwork sales tables

The Strategic Bond sector overtook the Mixed Investment sectors (40-85% Shares and 20-60% Shares) to top the sales charts in January, the latest FundsNetwork data reveals.

London, 27 February 2018: The Strategic Bond sector overtook the Mixed Investment sectors (40-85% Shares and 20-60% Shares) to top the sales charts in January, the latest FundsNetwork data reveals.

The Mixed Investment 20-60% and Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares sector nonetheless continued to see strong demand amongst advisory firms and their clients, taking both the second and third spots respectively in the sales tables.

The opening month of 2018 also saw significant interest in US equities and Japanese equities with both geographical sectors seeing strong flows.

The demand for strategic bond funds and mixed asset investments was reflected across the overall bestsellers as well as the ISA and Pension bestsellers on FundsNetwork, with these types of funds featuring prominently in each of the top ten.

Paul Richards, Head of Sales at FundsNetwork, comments: “As 2018 got underway, it’s apparent that diversification remained at the top of the agenda for advisory firms. This is evidenced by our sales data which shows advisers continued to favour both strategic bond and multi asset investments over the course of January.

“Given the volatility we witnessed in early February and the uncertain outlook for global markets, we would expect asset class diversification to continue to be a key priority for advisers and their clients over the coming months.”
